During prototyping and development it can be convenient to be able to send or receive audio from a host PC (Windows or Mac in this case) for injecting signals or for monitoring -particularly if using SigmaStudio for A2B topology modifying routing to accommodate testing is trivial.

miniDSP offers an easy to use board based on an XMOS part that handles the USB to I2S responsibilities. This AppNote walks through the setup of the MCHStreamer with the Clockworks AB0108 root (master) node I/O expander for a basic stereo audio I/O capability. The MCHStreamer can only be used at the root node of an A2B network as it must be I2S clock master.

The MCHStreamer can be configured to provide stereo or 4 channels in standard I2S mode, or 16 channels by loading TDM mode firmware.

The AppNote explains how to configure the cable to interconnect the hardware and the SigmaStudio settings.
