Clockworks’ A2B OEM module is an A2B to I2S adapter that allows developers to customize A2B interconnect by routing the A2B up and downstream signals over headers versus the DuraClik connectors on the standard Clockwork A2B module.

The AB0108 board mates with the AB0003L (A2B03) A2B OEM module to create an A2B root (master) node that offers buffered I/O for the I2S lines. It also includes the Molex DuraClik connectors that are standard on A2B development boards.

When combined with the AB0003L the plug on module makes interfacing to ADC and DAC EVMs via I2S and/or I2C as simple as connecting up a few jumper wires.

The AB0108 includes a USBi connector so that SigmaStudio can be used for development. Your own host processor can also connect to the I2C lines, and the IRQ line is also available for host use.

The AB0108 is intended for use with external I2S devices that generate SYNC and BLCK. The AB0110 is functionally the same but includes local generation of SYNC and BLCK – it does not need any external hardware to operate as a root (master) node.

The AB0108 can also be used with the non-OEM version (AB0001) of the Clockworks A2B module.

An external 5V to 9V (max) supply is required. Power is supplied through a 2.1mm center positive barrel connector. The AB0108 supplies power to the A2B module which in turn supplies the A2B phantom power to downstream nodes; this extra load should be considered when selecting a supply. A 500mA 9V supply provides margin and maximizes the number of phantom powered nodes possible.

As detailed in the datasheet below, bundles of a plug on board and A2B module are available to allow for a simple “one part number” ordering process. If you’re not sure what configuration(s) might best meet your needs please contact us for assistance.
