Clockworks’ triple output power supply was designed to fill a feature gap in off the shelf supplies for signal processing systems.

Like it’s bigger 7 output version, the triple output model offers a number of features to assist audio system builders:

  • Post filters on the bipolar supplies to reduce noise for analog circuit use
  • 12V input to allow use of external off-the-shelf certified supply modules
  • Up to 10 msec of holdup on loss of primary power
  • Primary power fail detection
  • Remote bipolar supply on/off control
  • Efficient 3.3V regulator allows system to meet CE 0.5W standby when used with appropriate mains supply

The holdup and power fail detection allow a system design to ramp the output volume down on unexpected loss of power to reduce system click and pops.

12VDC input is either by center positive 2.1mm barrel connector or a screw block. The board includes a power switch that can be bypassed with a jumper if required.

Output is via 8 and 12 pin MTA-100 connectors that follow the standards specified in the SignalBlox System Configuration guide.

While designed for use with Clockworks SignalBlox products, this triple output supply can be used in any application needing a bipolar supply for analog circuitry and separate supply for digital portions.

The Technotes page has a number of articles posted about the development of this supply and the noise generated by the bipolar supply. Actual op-amp test circuits were created and achieved output noise levels better than -120 dBv when using this supply without any secondary LDO/low noise regulators.

Board only or packaged with cables and 12V supply

The board is available without any accessories for users that just need the supply board and will use their own cables and 12VDC input supply.

The full version adds a universal input 18W supply, two MTA cables for the outputs, and a spare fuse just in case you make an oops hooking it up.

Clockworks website and webstore are focused on fully assembled and tested products. We also want to support those that are learning about electronics and looking to build useful things. Outputs

The standard configuration provides up to 1 amp on the 3.3V output, and up to 300 mA on the +/-15V outputs.

The 3.3V supply is connected to both the 3.3V standby and the regular outputs. The digital on/off input is ignored, the analog on/off and power fail operate as expected.

Special order options

The supply can be special ordered with a 5V 1 amp output instead of 3.3V. Likewise the +/-15V can be changed to a +/-5V output at 1 amp. Please contact Clockworks with your specific configuration requirements. If you need more than 3 voltages, please see the seven output supply page.
