The DD3100 module is used to connect Clockworks A2B module to a DigitalBlox carrier board to provide a method to send digital audio data from the ADC to an A2B node that can perform processing and then send the data back for output via a DAC. A2B’s low 2 sample latency and the ability to have multiple nodes interconnected via a single twisted wire pair allows for fast creation of complex signal processing systems.
The adapter board includes and I2C based GPIO expansion; the signals from that are used to provide the control signals on the SignalBlox standard 20 pin control connector. This allows a remote A2B master to control all aspects of the carrier and its modules in the same way that a local host processor could control the system. One exception is digital power control; since the adapter provides power to the A2B module the carrier’s digital power needs to always be on.
